How to measure wire runs for a takeoff
Measure each branch-circuit run from the panel (or the last device in the run) to its destination along the actual routed path, not a straight line — through studs, up walls, and across ceilings the way the wire will actually be pulled. Enter each run separately rather than a single combined total, since runs of different lengths often use different wire gauges or circuit types.
The slack allowance covers box drops, splices, device pigtails, and service loops that a straight-line measurement misses. CrewMeasure starts at 10%, but tighter or looser field conditions can call for a different number — the assumption is always shown and editable, never silently baked in.

NOT a code figure and it cites no section; the free-conductor length required at each box is a per-box minimum from the code book and does not convert to a percentage of a run

Estimated -- a purchasing figure at the ordinary trade spacing, plus one strap at each box. It is NOT a securing schedule and cites no code section: the required support interval, how close a strap must sit to each box, and what counts as supported where cable passes through bored framing all come from the code book and the cable's own listing. Counted off the base run footage, because the slack allowance is coiled at the boxes rather than run along framing.

What Tier 1 covers, and why conduit fill isn't here
This page runs CrewMeasure’s Electrical Tier 1 tools: wire footage with slack, and box/outlet tallies you enter directly (they are not inferred from run lengths). Tier 2 conduit fill — sizing conduit trade size against conductor fill limits — is intentionally not calculated in this release. That calculation depends on NEC Chapter 9 Table 4 (conduit internal area) and Table 5 (conductor area) data that has not yet been independently verified from the primary NEC source and added to CrewMeasure’s reference dataset.
Rather than estimate conduit fill from unverified numbers, CrewMeasure shows conduit fill as a visibly disabled, gated section until that verified dataset is in place. This page does the same — it does not claim a conduit fill capability the app does not have.
FAQ
Why is there only one calculator on this page?
Electrical's Tier 1 takeoff (wire footage, boxes, outlets) doesn't have a natural second calculator to chain it to in this release, unlike Roofing's rafters-to-shingles-to-sheathing flow. This page still gives Electrical the same informational, SEO-focused treatment as the multi-calculator trades.
Why is conduit fill unavailable?
Advanced code table lookup is not available until reference data is verified.
Why is the slack allowance editable?
CrewMeasure starts at 10%, but job conditions such as box drops, splices, and service loops can require a different allowance.
Are box and outlet counts calculated from the wire runs?
No. Boxes, device boxes, receptacles, and switches are simple counts you enter directly; they are not inferred from run lengths or circuit design.
